On a variable-volume installation, a fixed-threshold pressure switch ends up either blind or hypersensitive. Continuous ΔP measurement changes that.

The University of Fribourg has entrusted Workswell with the retrofit of its SAIA-Burgess controllers. A choice that says a lot about what building owners now expect from an MCR engineering firm: independence, rigour and zero disruption to operations.
Following the preliminary design and tendering phases, the mandate has entered phase 5 (construction). Workswell acts as site supervisor: steering and coordinating the contractors responsible for programming the new controllers, wiring, testing and commissioning. One continuous thread, from the first concept through to handover.
Swapping out obsolete hardware is the easy part. The real work is taking over the existing installation, ensuring its compliance and documenting what nobody had documented. This is where a firm specialised in measurement, control and regulation earns its place, and it is what separates an installation that is merely new from one its owner is truly in control of.
A university site runs all year round. Maintaining occupant comfort and safety without a single interruption is not an option: it is the specification. That continuity requirement shapes our entire retrofit methodology, phase by phase.
This mandate was an opportunity to integrate the new KBOB guidelines from the design stage onwards. The result: standardised addressing, usable documentation, and a building its owner can keep developing with the integrator of their choice, today and in fifteen years’ time.
An ageing controller estate, a BMS whose code nobody masters any more, or a renovation project that needs framing? We are happy to come to you, introduce Workswell, walk through your installations and tell you frankly what is worth doing, and what can wait. With no commitment.

At handover, nobody asks for the source code of the automation systems. Yet that is where twenty years of operating independence are decided.

On the quote, controls is just one line. In operation, it is the line that decides whether the building consumes energy sensibly or wastes it quietly.
A first conversation is usually enough to define the potential and the scope of the mandate.
