Workswell separates its activities: wall-i, a new independent company, will take over building automation engineering from 2027

Two separate companies: wall-i, the building automation engineering firm that writes specifications, and Workswell Sàrl, covering energy monitoring, consulting and products such as Wellset.

Press release, Sion, Valais, 8 October 2026.

Workswell announces the creation of wall-i, a new company that will take over, from 1 January 2027, its entire activity as an engineering firm for building automation and building management systems (HVAC controls and BMS). This structural separation has a single aim: to guarantee that the entity that writes a specification can never be the one that bids on the resulting tender.

A structural separation between design and sales

Since its founding in 2019, Workswell has built its positioning on independence from manufacturers and system integrators: no licences sold, no integration products imposed, open protocols chosen on technical merit. But the company was also developing its own solutions for buildings, including the Wellset energy monitoring platform. Writing BMS specifications on one side and selling software solutions on the other, within the same legal entity, left an ambiguity that Workswell chose to remove at the root.

wall-i will take over all of Workswell’s building automation engineering: control system design, BMS architecture, owner’s representation (BAMO), audits and tender documents. Workswell Sàrl retains energy monitoring, consulting and product development, including Wellset.ch.

Before and after 1 January 2027: Workswell Sàrl combined building automation engineering and Wellset; wall-i takes over engineering, Workswell Sàrl keeps energy monitoring, consulting and Wellset.
Who does what from 1 January 2027.

“We no longer wanted merely to claim our independence; we wanted to make it impossible to get around,” says Patrick Savioz, founder of Workswell.

About wall-i

wall-i is an independent building automation engineering firm based in Valais and active throughout French- and German-speaking Switzerland. Its services cover owner’s representation, control system design, BMS architecture, audits, and integration and supervision, guided by three founding principles: no brand names in a specification, open protocols without compromise (BACnet, KNX, Modbus, M-Bus, MQTT/API), and strict compliance with SIA standards and KBOB recommendations, with reproducible and traceable deliverables. The wall-i.ch website is already online.
